There are several ways of getting more traffic to your website. Some of them, like SEO, can be expensive - and not guranteed. Here are some tried and proven teqniques to boost your website traffic starting today.

1. Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising

The fastest and guaranteed way to get more traffic on your website is to run some PPC advertising like Google AdWords. This will get your website in front of people looking for your products and services right away. You can create text ads or banner ads with Google AdWords and place them on Google's search site, or their Display Network which consists of the thousands of websites, inlcuding YouTube.

2. Make Sure Your Website Is Listed On Directories

If you haven't done so already, make sure that you are listed on Google Places For Business, and that you have your website address attached to your Places profile. Also, be sure your website is listed in the top popular directories, like the Yellow Pages and Yelp. This will give you more real-estate in search results, and ensure that people have a link to your website.

3. Share Your Website Link On Every Social Media Post

Every time you post a photo or status update on your company's social media pages, be sure to add a link to your website. Doing so can increase your traffic from social media by 300% or better! If you want to send people to specific pages on your website, and the URL is long and ugly, you can use a URL shortener like TinyURL

4. Comment On Other Facebook Pages

Go to other Facebook pages in your industry (preferrably ones with 10's of thousands of fans or more) and comment on their posts as your page. In order to use Facebook as your page, click on the small arrow pointing down in the top right corner of the page.

Add a link to your website, just like in the above example. Make sure your comment is relevant to the post, and that you are not just posting a link to your website. Try to be the first to leave a comment, as the more 'likes' your comment gets, the longer it will be placed on the top of the comment thread - and thus more visibility.

5. Send An Email Blast

Sending an email out to your customer base, vendors, or personal connections can boost your website traffic. We've seen dramatic increases of traffic and sales on our client's websites when emails are sent out. If you don't have a large email subscriber list, start building one by collecting emails from your customers. Email marketing services like Constant Contact or Mail Chimp make it easy to get started, build subscriber lists, and send email blasts.
